Erasmus+ is the European Union’s flagship program supporting education, training, youth, and sport. Originally launched in 1987 as a student exchange program, it has since expanded significantly and now operates as Erasmus+ for the 2021-2027 period.

Objectives of the Erasmus+ Program

Erasmus+ aims to enhance participants’ educational, professional, and personal development, increasing their employability and social engagement. It also promotes cooperation between educational institutions, fostering innovation and best practice exchanges across Europe.

Scope and Opportunities

The Erasmus+ program offers a wide range of opportunities, including student and staff mobility, strategic partnerships, and youth exchanges:

Student Mobility: Higher education students can study abroad for one or two semesters at partner universities or gain practical experience through internships.

Staff Mobility: Academic and administrative staff have the opportunity to teach or receive training at foreign institutions, improving their skills and professional networks.

Strategic Partnerships: Educational institutions, businesses, and NGOs collaborate on joint projects, sharing knowledge and innovative practices.

Youth Exchanges and Volunteering: Young people can participate in international projects that allow them to experience new cultures, develop key competencies, and contribute to social causes.

Erasmus+ and Sustainability

Erasmus+ is committed to promoting sustainability and environmental awareness. The program encourages projects related to environmental education, sustainable development, and green skills, ensuring that participants become more conscious of ecological challenges and solutions.

Erasmus+ is a transformative program that empowers individuals and institutions by providing international exposure, fostering cultural understanding, and enhancing professional skills. By supporting cooperation in education and training, Erasmus+ plays a key role in building a more inclusive, innovative, and sustainable Europe.
